An acne diet is a very interesting idea. We’ve all heard that chocolate gives you pimples. I believe we all have. As a result, it doesn’t really sound that strange that you are what you eat.
However, an acne diet can be a hard thing to develop. This is very personal and its based on your body’s unique response to certain foods. There are rules to follow, but progress is usually by trial and error. Make sure you are keeping an eye on your skin. Make note of any changes. You could even take pictures a few times a week. So if and when your skin clears up, stay on the diet you were on at the time.
The following are some easy guidelines to help get you started on an acne diet:
* Take in a lot more protein - Many dermatologists think that protein intake is related to clear skin. This is because protein contains an enzyme that limits the production of oil. Oily skin seems to be extremely prone to breakouts.
* 2. Avoid carbohydrates - You do not need to cut out carbs completely. But you should keep them limited to about 40 percent of your diet. Carbohydrates contain compounds that stimulate oil production. This is why common knowledge says that junk food leads to acne. Actually, though, junk food is just high in carbs.
* 3. Drink green tea - If at all possible try to drink the real stuff. The kind of green tea that you brew is the best kind. You may not like the real stuff so the green tea drinks will work. Androgen production will be limited when you drink green tea. Breakouts have been known to be caused by a hormone called androgen.
* Limit your total intake of salt - Salt most always contains iodine. This being the reason table salt can be called “iodized salt.” For some with acne, iodine an cause major inflammation.
In addition to watching your diet, you should carefully watch what you put on your face. If you currently have acne, you are more aware than most of what is contained in your beauty products. Those who are prone to acne should look for oil free moisturizers. These being the least likely to aggravate your skin. Consider switching over to mineral makeup. Many dermatologists today believe that mineral makeup can really reduce breakouts and increase the results of your acne diet.
